When recording audio, if u have a range of songs from 1 second of silence to 0.5 seconds gap before the next track begins, which do u shoot for ?

I'm using Audio Hijack to eliminate silence, and split songs so as to not have one long track... however doing this i've hit a wall weather to bet on .05 seconds silence,or 1 second throughout, as i do not not which songs have 1 second, nor which ones have .05 seconds..

Is it safe bet to set this as 1 second silence, then i can see based on the length afterwards in Audacity etc to play and or/split as required or give this more attention ?

Never mind.... I found it better just to stick 1 second, then use Audacity afterwards to split them up..

It's probably better than say using Audio hijack to split at .05 sceonds of silence, only to find it split half the song.. which would be a nightmare to find then all

It depends what you're doing with them. If you're putting them onto a CD or album, I'd absolutely do 2 seconds as that is the industry standard.

no, i'm just leaving them as digital files.

However the reason of what would be "safer" to prevent needing to split...

Seems like if i record multiple songs, i'll run into problems anyway.... some may have 2 second gap between songs, others have 0.5... so i'll looking for a mid-way point to try and kind of not having to do much editing afterwards.

Is there a solution? as i have a feeling i'm gonna be editing anyway splitting up tracks... I just want to minimize the amount i need to do.
