Recording Delay

Hi every one, I am recording guitar in to Logic and I keep getting this delay down from the guitar, and when I start recording and no matter how correct I I play when I stop the recording the recording is off by a beat can some one tell me how to get rid of that delay? thanks

that's simply latency. what kind of audio interface are you using? is your guitar plugged direrctly into your Mac?
