hi there,
i like to Dj with CD's and record the mies whenever possible. I use to use a PC with SOUNDFORGE and simply plugged in the phono to 3.5mm jack into the LINE IN socket, recorded it with soundforge while the sound output to the amp was from the PC's earphone socket to 2 phonos into the amp.
I recently got a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2010) 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo , 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 from a friend to do the same type of recording but I can't get any sound output!!! I am setting the MBP earsocket to "input" and can record onto SOUNDFORGEPRO but i cant for the life of me get any output!! I've tried it with:THunderbolt to HDMI and USB soundcard adaptor with 3.5mm jacks for MIC and EAR sockets and still nothing.
Can any one help me with what I should do?

You should be using an audio interface. Focusrite and Presonus have nice entry level products.
