I have a very specialized question that nobody seems to have asked yet, possibly because it is a stupid question.

I would like to record from a line output (XLR) directly into my iPod. For the moment I'm stymied by hardware quirks, in that there exists no way to go from female XLR to male 3.5 with the third contact point that iPod needs to actually recognise a microphone. I'm thinking I could solder something, but am I just going to blow up my iPod with a direct line feed?

Has anyone every tried anything like this? Essentially I'm trying to record a radio station's program feed directly from the source so I can create a podcast later with Garageband. For my purposes, the radio stations logger just doesn't provide the quality I need.

Merci in advance.:apple:

I don't know a thing about the XLR to line level conversion, but once you are there, look here and here. I'm sure one of those links will have a good solution for you.
