I'm looking to start recording on my MBP through my iPad and am quite confused as to what the best set-up to do so is. I've found this article, which is a great starting point, but it seems quite complex and a little out-dated, so I'm wondering if there is another resource (similar to the Alessi IO Dock, but compatible with the new iPad) that would work.

-Play MIDI keyboard/guitar/vocals through iPad apps into my DAW (GarageBand for now)
Any particular recommendations with regard to hardware (if there's a "best" audio interface for my needs) would be appreciated!
