If I am doing a video of a computer game on my 13" MacBook Pro using Screen Flow, and the resolution of my screen is 1280x800 is there any point in uploading to YouTube in 1080p?

Would there even be any improvement in quality over 720p?

720p is enough, though the video will be proportionally resized, due to the 800 pixel video height, which will be resized to 720p.
I also record my "tutorials" in 1280 x 800 pixel and then use the crop tool in ScreenFlow to crop to 720p, thus YouTube isn't as **** as it is. I normally take away the bottom part, as the Dock is hardly visible in those tutorial videos.

Change the internal screen resolution to 1280x720 before recording. Then it will be captured in 16:9 without any cropping.

How? I don't see any 16:9 aspect ratio resolutions on my 2007 iMac and 2009 MBP, both having a 16:10 aspect ratio resolution and running Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. Is this a new feature of Mac OS X 10.7 Lion or OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion?
