    Hi everyone,

I've recently re formatted two of my HD's. Unfortunately I do need to retrieve some of the old data. I've not written anything on them so theoretically the data should be intact.

I've tried various rescue applications, disk drill, data rescue & stellar phoenix.

All of them found the lost files and I was able to recover them and copy to another hd.

However when trying to open any of my files, jpgs, tga's, .mov's, documents, etc. they seem to be corrupted. I.e. they cannot be opened in the respective software. It always says that the file type is unrecognized.

For some of my files (maya asci ones .ma) I know how they have to look when opening in text edit as I sometimes have to modify them that way.

Opening one of the rescued fiels that way I noticed that nothing looks the way it should look. Basically it's all machine code dashes. hases brackets etc.

This happens on both hd's. It's especially frustrating as I can see that my files are sort of there.

Has anyone had a similar problem and found a solution?
