Recover lost Bootcamp partition

I was backing up my dad's computer with time machine. I then went into startup disk only to realize his bootcamp partition has disappeared. Is there any way to recover it?

His tax return was on it along with other valuable data.

If you reboot and hold down the option key (is this what you mean by startup disk?), what choices are you given? Where did you save the TM backup? If you saved it to a usb drive, verify that is what happened. If you selected the windows partition by mistake, the information is probably gone. Without more details it is hard to say.

It's gone my snow leopard OS had some weird errors. I am reinstalling, then off to Lion.
