So, i was a dummy. I was making a movie on iMovie, about 80% Finished but was getting really bad lag. I noticed that all my movie info was being saved to my main HD, so i transferred it over to my external HD....and bam, suddenly iMovie can now not find the event, pics, etc that i was using (obviously since cpt. stupid moved them).

My question is, is there anyway to restore this. iMovie shut down...and upon starting it back it there is NOTHING showing. This movie is gone and so are the others that i made, its as though i had never done anything.

I Transfered my imovie info back onto my main HD in hopes it would recover, but of course...no dice. Anyone have any suggestions? Im hoping theres some sort of back up SOMEWHERE on my HD that im not aware of that i can go back to and load.

Thanks all.

What version of iMovie? Back before Apple implemented the annoying libraries feature, this was super easy to fix. There was a folder for iMovie events and iMovie projects (likewise Final Cut Events and Projects). You simply would transfer that folder or the project/event contained in that folder and viola. Now you might have to right click the library and show package contents to restore the media to where it belongs in order for it to be read.

I have the newest version :-\. So i dont know if the tip listed above would still apply? I re-did the video from scratch, but would still like to know how to transfer my movie info off my computer to my external drive without losing everything ive already made/saved on the internal hd.

Movie info as in project info? In Final Cut Pro X you can export libraries... which contains the project data. That is the best way to move projects and events around together in the new system. I don't have iMovie on this MBP so I can't tell you but try File -> Export Library or something to that effect, if you can't figure it out try Googling it to see what comes up. Let me know how it works out.
