recovering old texts

i restored my wife's iphone 5 as new a week ago. before that she was backing up to icloud. any way to restore some text messages she sent a few weeks ago?

Nope, icloud doesnt save/backup text messages.

Besides restoring, there is no other way. The reason it works on restoring the device as Apple uses an image to backup your device.
