Hi;

Following this thread I was trying to set up a Recovery Partition on my Mac OS X10.9.5 ready for transfer to an SSD Drive.

I believe I will get the option to setup a recovery partition as part of the CCC process but thought I would try it out on my current setup first.

It starts OK but when I get to step 7 in the process which says:
"Once the scanning is complete, the app will ask to locate the Install OS X Mavericks.app file, so browse to the directory and click Choose (Figure G)"

I am asked to locate the Install OS X Mavericks.app file, which I do not have what I have is a Mavericks.dmg file, if I select this I get no error when I click OK but after ages nothing appears to be happening?

Any help would help :)

simple.

download the install mavericks app form the app store
it should be in purchases
or if you never bought it, buy it, its free

the dmg is useless. if u try and use disk utility to make a installer key out of the dmg file, it won't work. tried it already. it just makes it call out and redownlaod chunks of the installer

once you download it you can drag the installer into documents, desktop, or downloads for safe keeping. if you don't do that, the app deletes itself when you install os x

the official way of making usb keys does not use the dmg file. so therefor the dmg by itself is useless for installing "clean"

The Mavericks Installer is no longer available in the App Store or in My Purchases??
I found a thread here started recently covering the problem??

I don't want Yosemite its too new and I have only just gotten used to Mavericks.

What to do now? ???????????
The only option I can see that is left to me is to Clone My current HDD as is onto my new SSD and hope for the best?

As long as you purchased it in the Mac app store using the correct username and password, Mavericks should still be in the Mac App Store under purchase.
If it does not show up try quitting App Store and running it again.

Or sign out and sign in again

Or maybe press command r to reload

If you bought Mavericks it should still be there.

I have mine, my copy of Mavericks is still in the stores I even have mountain lion

It says it's not compatible with this computer. When I try to download it, Hmm

If it says it's not compatible then you need to use a correct Mac of the current vintage to download the installer app, it will warn you that you are running Yosemite, but it will still download the app as long as the Mac is the correct model

Are you loading the Mac app store and not the iTunes store by accident ?
