Whenever I am really sick, especially when I was younger, I have a dream where I'm running in an underground, muddy tunnel with a giant ball chasing me (a la Indiana Jones, even though I've never seen it.) Then my perspective changes, and I can see myself running from above, and I'm running around some kind of maze. Then I wake up.

There's some other kind of recurring dream that I have had in the past and can't remember now, but this is definitely the longest-running one I've had.

Well lately my dreams have been about my ex with another girl which are traumatizing to me and it is possible for me to wake myself up by crying! But the SCARIEST reoccuring dreams I have had ALL my life are being eaten by a shark, seeing spiders, and being chased by another person. SO weird. :(

And LAU, I hate the dreams where I am LATE to something. I am late all the time in real life, but in my dreams it is so stressful and seems to go on forever!! ;)

I have recurring themes to my dreams, but not necessarily the details. The most common for me are the ones where I'm back in college and realize I haven't attended a class for the entire semester because I didn't know I was enrolled.

When I was younger, I had one about falling. It was a strange scenario and always happened the same way. I was in New York, I believe. Or some other city like it. I only remember falling a few stories with buildings all around, I don't actually remember falling off something in the first place. I would land on a lot of newspapers on top of a Taxi.

I had one about falling that was just a bit different once, and there have been random (but few) other times I've had the original dream since I've been older.

1. Dream that I am in a marathon, 10K or some other road race and cannot move no matter how hard I try. Almost like being paralyzed.

2. I used to have many dreams about yelling at my father, having arguments etc.

3. Used to have flying dreams a good bit.

The rest is X-rated.

Dude, that's so me! I don't think you can run in dreams...at least friends and family agree.

I used to work with my father...it was horrible. So now I dream I own the business (we sold it years ago) and he comes in and I yell at him.

re: flying...in airplanes? I dream I can kind of fly a few feet above ground. It's so fun!

Men: do you dream you're nude in a public place, or a t-shirt only?

And, yes, I have a few X-rated dreams here and there.

I agree... most of my dreams seem to revolve around being extremely late for work, either sleeping through the alarm till about 10:30, or (oddly enough) getting dressed and finding my whole closet full of ill-fitting, horrible-looking clothes. In my dream I keep trying on different things as the clock ticks away...

I also always dream that I'm in college again and suddenly realize I haven't attended a certain class for weeks on end... as in I actually forgot I had the class on my schedule. Probably after effects of being such a slacker in college! :)

its rare that i ever remember my dreams, its rare that i get more than a few hours of sleep at a time even.

one dream that happens often is that i am dreaming i am asleep and i miss my alarm....

one freaky thing used to happen to me though, i would wake up from sleeping, mentally and with my eyes, but the rest of my body was frozen still. i physically couldn't move, and i would panic mentally. happened a few times, and because i was physically exhusted. scariest feeling ever is being conscious and not being able to to move anything besides your eyes, knowing you should be able to move, and trying to will yourself into motion, and utterly failing.

Anyone ever incorporate your alarm into your dream as something else?

"Oh nevermind that beeping, its just the neighbors playing video games."

I think my brain creates all kinds of scenerios to keep me in bed

lol! my brains does the oppisit! I always think that my alarm is the fire alarm. (in my dream) That wakes my up fast.

Don't have any X-Rated dreams. So they are safe.

I do dream in color.

Most of them revolve around work, so have my usual uniform. Can recognize familiar people in my dreams.

I used to have when I was a youngster. I had these dreams 3 times and everytime they were back to back.

1) I'm in the basement of my house (growing up), the furnace turns on and this monster/ugly lady comes out and says "I'm going to eat you, let me just boil some water"

2) Hundreds of people go to this place, there people get locked in a giant vault to die. Me and my sister are first two in line so we get food. Then all of a suddenly everybody tries to escape and most people do. Everytime my family and I get into our car and drive away. Its funny though, the car changed everytime I had the dream depending on what cars my parents currently owned.

Curious.

Also. When I was a resident I would have dreams that I was full doctor. I would be operating in an operating room, and I would make a mistake and the patient would die.

When folks talk about having recurring dreams, do you actually mean that they're really the same dream each time? That's the way it appears in the movies, at least, but I've only had the recurring plot/recurring theme type. I always wondered whether that was what other people meant by "recurring dream".

I had two all the time when I was a kid: one in which I, and sometimes my little sister, was waiting in a car that started rolling on its own, and I'd end up having to try to steer it for miles and learn to drive on the fly just to keep from crashing, and another one in which I was older than I actually was and kept, not entirely intentionally, gathering up or collecting little kids that I had to herd to safety somewhere and protect from the Bad Guys that were after us. The settings and the characters changed, but the plot would be the same. Doesn't take a psychology degree to interpret those two, I don't think. Haven't had them since I grew up.

I used to do a fair bit of lucid dreaming, until a particularly nasty lucid nightmare that I lost control of. After that, I stopped remembering my dreams at all for a couple of years, and still rarely do. I'd really like to get back to it.

Also, does anyone else get those dreams where whilst you're in it, you think "oh, this is the same place I dreamt about before" or " this is a recurring dream", but when you wake up and think about it you realise you hadn't ever dreamt of that place before. It's odd, because not only do you recognise you're in a dream whilst you're in it, you're having false memories of dreams you had before.
Are you sure you didn't dream of it before, and just didn't remember the dream when awake? I had those all the time too, only I know I did dream of the places before -- could remember the previous dream both while in the new dream and while awake. Always seemed very odd, because the couple of recurring places that appeared weren't places I'd ever been to (at least when awake, unless I was toddler-sized or whatnot). My favorite (after I awoke -- not while it was happening!) was once when we were being chased. I saw the entrance to the recurring place and led us there, thinking "I know the layout, the Bad Guys don't, I can lose 'em in there", followed a couple of familiar corridors around a familiar corner -- and stopped dead in surprise and outrage when the layout ahead of me wasn't what I expected. In the dream, I actually stopped and yelled-thought "THEY REMODELED since the last time I was here! How dare they!" in complete and sincere indignation. :D
