Red/Blue 3D amateur movie?

Just for fun, can you use Final Cut Express to tint 2 offset clips red and blue and then merge them for a 3D effect with glasses?
 
Yes, I guess you could never shoot a scene twice with one video camera and get it to sync. It might work for a still shot, though.
