Red box around peoples' names for text messages

Is everyone else seeing this on theirs? It's in a red box because the contact doesn't have iMessage, but it shouldn't based on Apple's images.

Also the green gradient is different but I digress.

I don't think it's red because they don't have iMessage. It's red because for some reason you are not able to message them. Mine will turn red like that if I disable SMS Relay. Maybe yours is turning red when your iPhone is off, or not in the area, or some other reason that SMS Relay is not available at the moment.
