There are too many Reddit reader apps to choose from. Does anyone have a preference and why?

If this has been posted before, my apologizes and sincere appreciation on suggestions...

Alien Blue, hands down.

It's actually by Reddit, and works great if customized the right way (although this varies per person).

Occasionally I still use the website via the browser.

Here's the link to the app,
Alien Blue - reddit official client by reddit

And yes, very likely has been asked but times change and you never know right ;)

I've tried Alien Blue in the past, but ended up going with amrc due to its speed. I seem to also remember not always being able to figure out how to do things in Alien Blue, which was not a problem for me with amrc.

I've tried both Alien Blue and amrc. There's no comparison - amrc is far better. The only advantage Alien Blue had was that it's free. amrc is free for the limited version and like $2 or $3 for full functionality. That's less than a coffee at Starbucks. Worth every penny.

It's not BY reddit. Reddit bought it, they didn't create it.

If I may, then what's best on iPad with a night mode? Thx

On the iPad, amrc might be your best bet for now. For some reason, there just aren't any good ones, or great ones, on the iPad. I am waiting for Redditsync Pro to come out, hopefully it will be a universal app. I had it on my Nexus 7 and it was fantastic.

You might want to check out Alien Blue. It's nice on the iPad but the ui just doesn't do it for me.

I've actually found that myreddit works for me until I understand more. It doesn't have a night mode on iPad, but dev answered my ? that it's being worked on...

I've tried a few of them, but I have stuck with AMRC.

Why?
  • It's very simple, with no amount of intrusive or confusing design.
  • You swipe to do everything, so one-handed navigation is easy.
  • It is super, super fast.
Edit: Well, actually, you don't swipe to do *everything*. A lot of interaction is also done via long-press. But this does not change my original statement...one-handed operation is still very easy.

Until Sync for Reddit is released I've been using Beam. I've also been testing Comet and Apollo. All have the similar "cards" look that I love from Sync for Reddit.

I've always used AB because at the time it was the best and I haven't looked since. AMRC does have my attention though, thanks to this thread.

Beam is nice too, I just wish it had a night mode or a dark grey theme. What's the word on Sync for Reddit?
Completely agree. Hate resting in bed using beam and it's beyond bright white screen. Sync for Reddit is apparently just waiting on licensing before it can start their beta program.

I think I'm really beginning to prefer night mode. It's almost a must...

I forgot all about Karma Train. Has a dark theme and a cards layout. Check it out. But it's only on the iPhone right now.

Update now, it seems to have gotten a nice update with the 3D screen. Anyone try it yet? I'm on a 6 Plus.

I haven't. I wish it was universal. By the way, I sure appreciate everyone giving more than 2 cents! I've got some ideas moving forward...
