These renders look incredible and I'm sure the 14" and 16" MacBook Pros will be stunning and a big step up for the MacBook Pro line. I'm really glad to see Apple rejuvenating the Mac lineup and the M1 was an exceptional move to kick start that. I'm absolutely loving my M1 MacBook Air. Everything is just fast and efficient. It's so nice to do even basic tasks without fans coming on.

Wasn't there confirmation that Apple had started production on M1X/M2 chips though?

Of course the release of the new iPad nobody needs has to limit mini-LED resources for the new higher-end MacBook Pros that everyone needs because the last real refresh was ages ago 😑

Yes in April, but that doesn't mean mini LED wafers from Epistar/EnnoStar are on track.

Today's article from Bloomberg doesn't mention miniLED at all.

Either they are:
-delaying until miniLED is ready (with smaller bezels)
-releasing earlier with LCDs (and LCD-capable chassis)

Which do you think is more likely?

I think the MacBook Pros will have mini LED. I don't believe the display can be reverted to edge-lit LCD without an engineering delay. While Gurman has the technical info, I think Digitimes is better able to feel the pulse on the ground.

I think they will put new chips in current chassis (like M1 MBP) for now, then big refresh when miniLED is ready.

So multiple rumors about returning of physical keys/ ditch of touchbar; more IO ports, not happening? Imho feels unlike. After IPad Pro getting miniLED, I’m sure next machines will get it, and that will surely mean redesign. Also think it’s time for M2 to come out, so miniLED price bump dilutes and “feels more justifiable”.
However the AirPod Max and new iMac designs make me feel uneasy with redesign after Ive’s departure, as it seems new mantra is thinner and uglier...
