I live in Oregon where there is no sales tax but currently in California at my parents for a while. I was planning to purchase a computer and want to avoid paying sales tax, has anyone had experience redirecting/intercepting a package from UPS from Apple and having it shipped to a different state? I know it is possible to have it redeliver to another address but not sure about from Oregon to California as there might be some tax implication laws.

Apple won't allow it, otherwise fraud and theft would be rampant.

UPS online might be able to deliver to an alternate address but they will charge for the cost of shipping to the new address.

Shippers can block the option to redirect. Apple will not allow it.
From UPS: "Please note that not all shipments are eligible for a delivery change. For example, if you purchase prescription medication, perishable items, or high value merchandise, the sender may decide to deliver only to your address or require your signature."
Apple does not always use UPS but all shipping companies have the ability to prevent redirecting packages.

Best to call UPS and try to talk to somebody.

If they won't "re-direct" the package, then your best bet would be to have them "put it on hold" at the local distribution center. When you get back north, you can either stop by and pick it up at their customer counter, or have it delivered then.

Other than that, looks like it could end up going back to Apple.
Why would you order a package, when you were leaving town...?
