Guys I'm wondering if you encounter this problem on your ipad, my friends and family have all observed this issue on separate connections.

The problem happens when u go to a website on mobile safari/chrome with ads in iframes or ads that can redirect you to the ad store/adult websites. The redirection usually occurs in a chain, where a redirect will bring you to another redirecting page. Popular blogs, news websites, forums and even MR forums (at times) are affected by this.

The majority of literature agrees that this behaviour should be normal, advertisers should have control over basic redirection and anything with the app store address prefix should switch users to the app store. Others suggest that this is abnormal behaviour and mention that your router has been compromised or your ipad has some cookies causing these ads to allow redirects.

This liberal stance towards advertisers using the app store prefix to redirect users to the app store strongly diminishes the enjoyment of using my iPad's browser (practically the only thing i do on it). Accordingly iOS 9 will allow developers to create browser plugins, so we may see a proper ad block plugin developed for mobile safari.

Have you guys encountered something like this? I doubt I'm the only person (or that the people in my vicinity are the only people) who experiences this frustration. I cannot imagine that of the millions, or as I recently found out, billions of iOS devices out there, there isn't any more information on this problem.

I had this same annoying issue until about two weeks back. Tried fixing it by clearing website data but it came back shortly after.. I think I got it fixed by "Reset Advertising Identifer" under Settings>Privacy>Advertisement

Let me know if it fixes your issue too.

Thank you for the advice and suggestion. I have visited Tomshardware, Anandtech and MR but the problem still persists. I've previewed the trial version of adblock browser, it seems much slower than safari in loading pages and not as snappy. Not sure if its worth the few bucks to get an unoptimized version of safari with adblock in it.

i get lots of "redirecting errors" nowadays... it all started after updating to ios8.4. errors say something like "this site has too many redirects". and the browser is in the loop before breaking it and giving the message.

Yup, I'm on iOS 8.4 but I still haven't seen this error message. It seems preferable as compared to be taken to another website/the app store without your control. At very least it will dissuade advertisers/ad networks from using redirection as a means of getting impressions or clicks.
