Redoctane X-Plorer Controller

So the other day I bought a Redoctane X-plorer Wired controller for Xbox 360 to use as a controller for Frets on Fire on my Macbook Pro. I can't get the controller to be recognized by my computer. When I plug it into the usb port the controller lights up and then goes blank. Does anyone know the reason why the controller won't stay on? What would I need to do to get this to work?

I have a few drivers installed for Xbox 360 controllers but none of them recognize the device.

I don't know much about the situation, but doing a quick search I came up with this:

It says that you can use Pref360 (donationware) or USB Overdrive ($20). Good luck!
