I'm hoping someone wouldn't mind offering a little advice on which method to use to jailbreak (no need to unlock) my iPhone 4 on 4.3.1? I have a Mac, but it also has Windows 7 installed if that changes anything. Looks like Redsn0w is a little bit quicker of a process, but is there any advantage to one over the other? Thanks very much. http://www.redmondpie.com/jailbreak...d-ipod-touch-with-redsn0w-0.9.6-how-to-guide/ http://www.redmondpie.com/jailbreak...ipod-touch-using-pwnagetool-4.3-how-to-guide/
PwnageTool allows you to keep your current baseband if you rely on an unlock but it generally requires you to fully restore your iDevice which takes longer. Another advantage is that you can download all your apps/tweaks and bake them into the custom firmware which can save you time. I don't recommend that if you're adopting early because you never know what isn't going to work. Redsn0w jailbreaks without having to restore. You'd have to use iTunes to update the firmware with the stock firmware first which will update the baseband. Redsn0w is quite a bit faster since you don't have to resync all your data.
Thanks, thats about as simple as it gets right there. I just wish i could have pwnage functionality under windows. Wasted a lot of time getting a osx vm running.
