    Hello,

I gathered that pwngetool creates a ipsw file so you can do a restore using itunes. I've been doing this for almost a year now.

Is there any specific advantage of this tool over redsn0w?
redsn0w doesn't seem to make any ipsw but rather jailbreaks an iphone on the fly? is that right?

i'm having pathetically bad battery with my jb (before, with the 3.0GM the battery was EXCELLENT, much better than 2.2.1) and the only reason, for now, for me to have the jailbreak is the sbsettings and bitesms.. but I can live without sbsettings for the time being..

    thanks

Yes, PT creates an IPSW file.

For some, redsn0w is easier (However, I personally have no trouble with PT in Expert mode, after you've done it once, it's cake)

Not sure why some are having issues and some not.

I am lucky, my 3.0 JB/UL iPhone is working perfectly.

i cant decide which to use, i have always used the easy option in Pwnage but RedSn0w is temptingly easy by the looks of it.

With redsn0w you wont have to restore ure phone from a made ipsw wiping everything you have. If you have stuff on your cell phone best way to go is redsn0w. Its easy at last, and jailbreaks fast!...

Make sure to DFU restore, and remove your sim before selling any iPhone.
