Is there any study about this? I like the effects but I suspect that if we turn them off battery life increases considerably. What do you think?

I don't know if it would make a massive difference, but it wouldn't be rendering the fancy effects or doing the parallax backgrounds so in theory it should use less power, but whether it's enough to make a difference to overall battery life is only something you can try and see.

I recall it saves a very small amount of battery. Probably not even noticeable unless you are really struggling with an old battery that won't hold charge any more.

It definitely helped the battery on my 5s when I had one. I honestly just prefer the fade animation to the zoom in/out animation.

Maybe.. if you are not taxing the motion co-processor, barometer and gyroscopes.
