Sorry, but there will be some computational power involved in calculating the correct position for the wallpaper and icons according to the accelerometer data, and in shifting them into those positions. I'm by no means arguing that it's a lot- I personally can't see parallax being a significant drain on battery- but it definitely uses some battery.

Fair enough. I'd imagine the dynamic wallpapers would use up some battery but nothing close to parallax.

I left it off charge overnight with 54%, I woke up with it on 28, and it died halfway through writing this at 21%

It definitely sounds like you have either an install issue (which will most likely be resolved if you restore your phone as NEW) or a failing battery (which the Apple store can confirm).
