hey i am thinking about reformatting my computer because it has been acting up. i am a new mac user and i probably did some weird stuff with it. i used to use limewire and i know that that was bad for my computer. well anyways, i burned all my pictures, documents and movies onto dvd disks to back them up. is there anything else i should back up?? like my microsoft office, photoshop ect? and if i do do it, do i just copy it from the applications folder? and is there anything else i should do before i reformat?

Don't forget things like Bookmarks, eMails, and the Address Book. Unless you don't have the CDs or DVDs to reinstall the app, you don't really need to back those up. Otherwise things like Office and Photoshop you can just burn the folder that houses those apps (/Applications) to a CD or DVD.

Basically if you take your entire home folder (/users/yourhomefoldername) then you got all of your important stuff other than non-replacable applications.
