Hey there guys, this is my first post on this forum and im sure this topic has been asked to the point of nausea, but i searched and could not find the answer i was looking for:

My boss just bought a used MacBook for us to use at the office, however, he wants it wiped clean so he can "start over" before we start installing our own applications on the HD.

Is there a way i can wipe the 'slate clean', if you will, without a reformatting disk? (the laptop didnt come with one, just power cord)

Any help you all could give me would be greatly appreciated...

Not really
You should just go ahead and pony up for the Snow Leopard disc
You will need one to reinstall the OS anyway

No, if they came with the iMac they are machine specific
You will need a retail version of SL

Thank you, I appreciate the rapid response. That was quite quick 🙂

What about deleting the previous owners account, and starting a new one.

My Boss' main concern is having the computer not say previous owners name, and having our company name put in place of his/hers...

Thank you in advance..

That can be accomplished without a fresh install and without the discs
But at some point, you will likely want the installation discs
