Hi,
I have a macbook air that I was planning on giving as a gift, due to circumstances this is no longer happening.

The machine is still boxed, nothing has been opening or boxed.

What are my options, if not a refund, would a gift card be at all possible?

Machine is past return policy

Where did you buy it? How far beyond the return policy is it?

If from an Apple store, I suggest taking it back and asking. A Specialist may decline the return, but gently requesting a manager should help, assuming you have the receipts and it's boxed they're likely to help.

Yeah, even if past return date, try going back and explaining the situation nicely. You never know. It has never been opened and if you still have the receipts, you may get lucky and they may accept it back. Worst they can say is no. Then at least you won't regret trying either. Good luck!

I think I once returned a Magic Mouse that was something like two months beyond the return date. Managers approved and it was fine

Always worth the try. You only regret it if you do not. It was not opened and never physically touched, so I can see no issue unless he runs into a real hard sales rep or manager at the store.

How about giving all the necessary information so that people can respond back with complete suggestions?

Yes, you can get approval for a return for an unopened machine from the store manager.

However if it's the replacement machine you've been posting about, then no you can't get a refund. At best you'll get an Apple Gift card instead.

Apple customer service

Call 1800-676-2775 and give them the email address and serial number that this computer was provided to you under and they can work out things from there.

The computer you refer too in the box and never opened could be taken to a local apple retail store , but there going to check the serial number and at most give you a gift card. Just as a side note if your trying to get over on apple as other's have in the past and posted it here in the forum's eventually Apple will catch up with you. That's not a threat or harsh words just saying is all.

Good luck

I returned an iPad that was within the return date and they still opened the sealed box to confirm that the contents were original and intact.
I'm just saying -- people keep saying that since it's never opened /still sealed, Apple is going to look on it favorably and in my experience, that's not going to matter in the slightest.
