So I purchased an iPhone XS and am looking to return it and keep my original X for another year at least. Now when I go to return it, is there any way to get the balance credited back to an Apple store gift card instead of original payment on the credit card I used? I’d like to allocate this money so I have it to spend when the next years model comes out. This way I don’t need to worry about budgeting again and can use the original amount I saved for this years upgrade.

Thank you in advance!

even if they dont give you that option, couldn't you just get the refund on your card and then immediately purchase a gift card?

Not if it wasn’t his card. Opens up interesting ways to steal if stores allow this without seeing the original card.
