I was sent an upgrade code for OS X Lion from Apple today. Being excited, I didn't read over the instructions properly and accidentally purchased the OS instead of entering the redemption code.

After realizing my error I reread the instructions and entered the redemption code the correct way, but it just took me back to the download I had started earlier.

I've emailed Apple explaining the situation and was wondering what the chances are of being given a refund.

As stated in the Terms & Conditions, all sales are final. There is little chance that you will get a refund. Please read instructions carefully next time.

Less than 6 hours after I sent the email I received a reply. They are more than happy to issue a refund as "your unintentional purchase of "OS X Lion" is an appropriate exception to the iTunes Store Terms and Conditions". A credit card refund will be issued in 5 - 7 days!

Well done Apple! Well done!
