My friend want's to sell his brad new refurb. (just ordered) for $1,299. Old unibody model @ 2.4GHz, 2GB DDR3, express card, 250GB HDD, *9400M + 9600GT:eek:

    If I get a new one it's 1,599. @ 2.53 GHz, 4GB DDR3, sd slot, 250GB, 9400M:confused:

$300 difference, 2.4GHz vs 2.53GHz, 4GB vs 2GB (same speed), Express CArd vs SD Slot, dual graphics vs 9400M. both new 1yr warranty, and my friend is trustworthy.

I would say get the refurb. Are you sure it only has 2GB RAM? I thought that to get the dual video card it had 4GB.

I just got the 15" previous gen from the refurb store and couldn't be happier. Sure it doesn't have the 7 hr battery or SD slot but those weren't deal breakers for me. For $300 less you can buy the RAM from OWC and still come out way ahead.

But in the end the decision is really up to you.

Nope. I bought one a year ago for $2K. It has the dual cards, and being the base model mbp at the time, only had 2 gigs. It's a heck of a deal for that price, and you could get a spare battery for a lot less than the new one if you needed it. Mr. Data wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the two processors.
