I'm in the same boat. I'm saving up for a deposit on a house and I gave the missus a lecture about unnecessary spending just the other day!

Couldn't have come at a better time... my friend finally decided he wanted an Apple laptop, so he picked out the 2.0Ghz MacBook. He was going to go the Apple store and pick one up but when I spotted the refurbs this morning, he decided to go with a refurbed 2.4GHz for more or less the same price

They're no cheaper than the educational discount (which anyone can get if u call them and say buying for relative at uni). Maybe better when have MBP on refurb.

Maybe the refurb store should be renamed "Store for customers with a conscience"!

Thinking of buying my sister a macbook for Uni when I saw this thread about refurbs in the UK apple store and the base model is still available:) Sounds like a good deal at £799 but would like opinions from anyone who has bought refurbs from Apple and what issues, if any, I can expect? For instance is it likely to have obvious signs of use (scratches, shiny keys etc) and if it does can I return?

    Thanks in advance

I'm very tempted by one of these, £799 is a good price.

I got my MBP 2.4ghz from the refurb store a year ago, you couldn't even tell it was a refurb. No scratches, no dead pixals, and even came with 4gb of ram when it should had come with 2gb.

I would only order from the refurb store now, very tempted by this.
