I've never heard complaints about Apple's refurbs that you dont hear coming from people who buy new machines. They have a pretty good refurb program as far as I know.

A few weeks ago http://www.pcconnection.com had reconditioned Power Mac G5 dualies... 2.0GHz DP 512 160 4x SuperDrive 56K NIC for $2299, 1.8GHz for $2099, and 1.6GHz for $1799.

So comparitvely, yes that's a good price... however, I'd strongly discourage you from purchasing a new display. New displays next month. (crosses fingers) If you take a look at the MacRumors Buying Guide and some of the the page1 stuff.. its possible we might even be getting g5s in January. These are all good things to keep in mind..

However, if you're in the buying mood now, for christmas or what have you, then buying Refurb from Apple is a great way to go. Couple it with the Apple Care and enjoy your cheap new g5!
