My 27" has one speck of dust in the corner. I spoke with local Apple repair shop and they'll take care of it "provided no indications of tampering are detected"
Other possible dings not detected, so I got away relatively light. I wouldn't worry about it normally, but it'll have to be mentioned at sale time three years down the road, and the price will take a hit if I leave it there.

Take it to the Apple dealer and have them pop off the glass and clean the glass and screen. I had it done to mine and it took about 5 minutes and there was no charge.

Oh, no doubt I'm going to have it removed. Just the kind of thing some anal buyer will jump on when I want to sell it. Who needs that!

I took mine in to have that done today and the guy said it takes up to 5 days for them to clean the screen. I was like WTF... so I just dropped it off since I didn't have much choice in the matter. He tried to tell me there was a multistep process they have to go through. I didn't feel like calling him out on it but it is rather inconvenient since I had to drive an hour to get to the store and now I will have to drive back when it's ready.

You really should call them on it.

I was invited into the back of the shop and watched the tech do it. He attached two suction cups and gently pulled - the glass cover came off easily. He then sprayed the back of the glass and the screen with iKlear and using the supplied cloth, carefully wiped both surfaces. He did each surface individually. We both then inspected the surfaces for dust. Being satisfied, he reinstalled the glass and then sprayed and cleaned that.

He then started the computer and using a variety of different coloured desktops further inspected for dust. All was good.

It took me longer to type this than for him to do it.

Your shop is giving you a load of crap unless they have some different process involving a clean room. Given the cost and difficulties using clean rooms, the likelihood of them having one is approaching zero.

It cracks me up every time I see someone posting about a "speck of dust".

It's so easy to clean folks! Pull off the glass, blow it off or wipe it off, and put the glass back. You can do it in less time than it takes to do a deuce.

    It's that simple.

Wish I could do this. I have dust between the LCD and backlight panels...

Well, that's certainly a different affair. And not a good one. Definitely an Apple repair when something like that happens...
