Refurb iPad 2017 @ £240 or new iPad 2018 @ £290?

Hi all

Looking for an iPad for boring things like email, web and basic docs.

There’s a deal at John Lewis with a three year warranty for a space grey 2018 iPad 32GB for £290. Verses an apple refurb 2017 32GB in gold at £240.

Ideally I’d like grey but I can get over gold for saving some cash. I don’t really see myself using a pencil. But what would you recommend?

Is a quicker processor, a bit more future proofing, pen support, a more preferred colour, and a three year warranty worth the extra £50? I’m tight aren’t I.
