I am switching and still trying to decide between the Refurbished iMac 24-inch 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Extreme and the new 24 inch 2.8 GHz. One of the things that appeals to me about the refurb is that it has a 500 GB HD. I would want to upgrade the HD from 320 to 500GB if I went with a new one. Does that make it BTO? If so, how does that affect the warranty/returnability? Is the refurb considered BTO? What is the returnability on a refurb?

I hope that I will just love it out of the box and not have any need to return whichever one I choose, but from what I read on here, I need to check out the screen pretty carefully for bleed and gradient. So I’d like to know how my choice between new with upgraded HD and refurb would affect my ability to return it.

Yes, upgrading the hard drive would make it BTO.
