How lame,

o2 & apple uk have stopped selling refurbished iphone 2G, the must have millions of them, which are now going to be wasted and disposed of. The only hope is ebay!!!

LOL - you're nuts. If they still had any, they'd be selling them. Don't forget that they were always in fairly short supply anyhow - they actually ran out of the 2g iPhone several weeks before the 3g launched.
 
The only reason that the refurbs are no longer available, IMO, is that you now have to activate in store in order to get the widely-advertised price. I don't think Apple or AT&T have agreed on a refurbished, unsubsidized price, or else refurbs would be available. The fact that apple still leaves the Refurbished iPhone section of the online store open seems promising, though.
