Current refurbished discount is a scam. In fact, many times, the Amazon/Costco etc discount is cheaper than Apple Refurbished, and you get 100% a new product, ridiculous.
I agree with this - Apple refurbished used to be a good deal. Now it's just lousy, and chances are the product will be discontinued from support that much sooner.

We never really get those deals in Canada, so yeah... 10% is better than nothing even if it's not the 15% it was before.

But buying refurbished also makes people ineligible to extended warranty programs on credit cards.

Is that a Canadian thing? I know (in the U.S.) Chase credit cards and AmEx (and others too) cover refurbished items.

From their benefits book...

I don't believe Apple considers their refurbished items used or pre-owned when Apple puts a full 1 year warranty on them, right? If it was used or pre-owned it would only have the remaining portion of the original warranty which went into effect on day of first original purchase.

Hmmm I know with my MasterCard in Canada I am not eligible, it said so in the terms and conditions.
You guys are lucky lol

Unless you're looking for a specific configuration, refurbished rarely seems worth it these days compared to sale prices at other retailers. If the price difference is enough to cover Apple Care and an accessory or two, I'll always take refurbished, but for $50 I'd rather have a brand new machine.

If I’m buying used I can get a way better deal buying private party

10-15% discount from new for a used computer is a little crazy

Still think the 2021 might be the better choice with the larger heat sink. I think some YouTuber guy did a comparison and found the speed increase is negligible compared to all the areas that costs were cut. Wish I had that link.
Nonsense. M2 has tens of thousands more Apple engineering hours in it. 2021 is not a better box, no matter what some Utube bimbo claims.

There's no stacking education discount on refurbs. I just checked on 2022 13" MBA with M2.

Through Education site: $1,079.00 ; Save $20.00 from $1,099.00
That's not true with military/vet discount. The 10% vet discount is in addition the refurb. A nice benefit, indeed!

I've found Apple refurbs to be a good deal (price and quality) but you need to keep your eyes sharp. Just picked up a a brand new base model M1 Pro (8c/14c/16gb) with 1tb ssd upgrade from a link at AppleInsider for an additional $200 discount - out the door price $1599. Apple has had these in the refurb store, rarely, for $1689 (which is a good price in itself).
