Apple today added refurbished iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max models to its online store in the United States and Canada, offering the smartphones at a discounted price.

The iPhone 15 is priced starting at $619 in the United States, while the iPhone 15 Plus is priced starting at $699. The iPhone 15 Pro is priced starting at $759, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max is priced starting at $929. Prices are discounted about 15 percent compared to brand new models.

Multiple colors and capacities can be purchased as of the time of writing, but stock will fluctuate over time as Apple refreshes what is available, so you may need to check back often if you're looking for a specific color or capacity. Note that the iPhone 15 Plus is not available in Canada at the current time, but it will likely be added soon.

Apple introduced refurbished iPhone 15 models in Europe back in January, but this is the first time Apple has offered discounted iPhone 15 models in the U.S. since the devices came out in September 2023.

Refurbished iPhones from Apple are unlocked and can be used with any carrier. Apple outfits all refurbished iPhone models with new batteries, outer shells, and a new USB-C cable, so they are essentially identical to new in the box iPhones.

Apple offers the same one-year warranty on refurbished iPhone models, as well as the option to purchase extended AppleCare+ coverage.

This is a steal for anyone needing to upgrade from an older model. The 15 Pro/Pro Max support Apple Intelligence (by no means a selling point) and are pretty much identical hardware wise to the 16 unless you need the camera control button (you don't as you can map the visual intelligence to the side button on the 15), or 0.1" more of screen real estate (it makes no difference).

I never upgraded to the 16 Pro Max from my 15PM because this was the first year where the "upgrade" was so close to the previous model there was literally no reason to.

Apple has decided 15% is as good as it gets for refurbished.
My iPad was already 2 years old when I got it refurbished.
Flawless condition and has worked well except for only 32 GB storage.
To me there is the tradeoff of lower price versus shorter life.
For someone who is interested, I can give the refurbished program 2 thumbs up.
The iPad is my only purchase from Apple as refurbished but it was spotless and in perfect working order.

Now there’s really no reason to buy the iPhone 16e now
Hmmm having looked at those prices, I disagree, actually. I feel like a bit more discount would make it so but a 6E is still a "latest gen" and will support Intelligence (I mean eventually this will shake out) so I feel like it still makes more sense than a non-Pro version iPhone 15 at Apple store.

Yeah I agree. The 16E has a chip that is two generations ahead (A18 vs A16 on the 15), more RAM (8GB vs 6GB), and significantly better battery life.
So, I feel that the 16E is a much better deal. However, the 16E has a worse camera setup, a lower quality screen, and lacks MagSafe support. Those who need those features might find this deal appealing.
I just wish the 16E had the same camera as the 16, or at least the 15, that alone would have made the 16E an even better value.

As long as you’re ok about it not supporting Apple intelligence it’s a great deal

Many AI functions can be processed in the cloud so it is a non issue for many people.

But if privacy is super important and you’d like to use Apple Intelligence, go for a 16 series.

Edit, the pro 15 supports Apple intelligence and has 8 GB RAM :)

I bought the 16 pro and handed down the 15 pro to my kids. I truly think sometimes I wish I had the 15 pro back, I really liked how light it is. Of course I could take it back from my kids, but I won't because I'm too lazy to swap the phones from the back ups and swap esims. Yes, it should be a shame to be that lazy.

I think those regular 15 and 15+ prices are kind of ridiculous.
The 16e has a two years newer chip and more RAM for $30 cheeper. Literally the only thing you miss out on is Ultra Wide and MagSafe, and one of those can be added back with the case.
The battery life of the 16E is also comparable to the 15 Plus. It's that good.
However, the 15 also has a brighter screen and mmWave 5G support, which the 16E does not.

Is the difference in weight really that noticeable? The 16 Pro is only 12 grams heavier than the 15 Pro (199g vs 187g), and considering it has a larger screen, the difference shouldn't be that noticeable.

iPhone SE 2016 here. Works like a charm. No reason to upgrade, especially not for $610 when I have a phone that does everything I ask of it — and everything I need it for. ✅

For everything else…there's my iPod Touch 6, iPad, Canon digital camera, and Mac! 😎 📸

Besides, that iPhone 15 wouldn't even fit in my pocket! 😁

The 15 has some additional camera tricks like depth and focus control, extra video features like action mode stabilization, 2x fast wireless charging, UWB 5G, a brighter screen, a much brighter screen outdoors.

It's also Notch vs Dynamic Island.

As surprising as it sounds, I think so. When I use my kids to take pictures of her and her friends I’m always surprised how light it feels.
