my iphone 4 got stolen back in may out of my locker at the gym. the perp has since been caught and my iphone has been held by a detective as evidence till they finally take this guy to court...the detective told me it would take a year or more before i got it back.

does ATT supply refurbished white iphone 4's?

also what kind of cash am i gonna have to cough up for a new iphone?
*oddly enough, my 2 year contract was up a year early and ive been eligable for an upgrade since june 25th 2011* idk why?

Currently AT&T does not offer refurbished white iPhones only black ones.

Are you sure your contract is up?

More likely your are just due for an equipment discount. Your equipment discount is based on the MRC of your line, so if you are spending more then $99 per month you might qualify for an equipment upgrade every 12 months.

If you are eligible for a full iPhone discount then a new white iPhone 4 would be 199 ( 16 GB ) / 299 ( 32 GB) with a new two year contract. The new contract would just replace your existing one not extend it an additional two years.

BestBuy often offers refurbished devices at the individual store level, it might be an option. However, with the new iPhone just around the corner is there a reason that you can't wait a little longer?

Wow, that's lame OP. Sorry to hear about that.
Good luck getting a new phone.

And to answer your question, no.

You might not qualify for the $99 pricing.

why is that?

When you buy an iPhone, you sign a two year contract. You generally can't get a new phone until you are issued your next subsidized upgrade - when 18 months has passed. If you are due for an upgrade, then you can get it for that discounted price. If you aren't due for an upgrade, then it will cost you more money ($399-499) depending on the capacity.

Remember the iPhone costs $599/$699 MSRP. The carriers are discounting the phone to $199/$299 provided you stay with them for 2 years. After two years, they would have gotten enough money to cover the $300 they originally discounted. That is why they can't offer a new phone for the subsidized price since the old one isn't paid off yet.

It's amazing the stories people conjure up to cover the fact that they only have the cash for a used phone. The fact is, if all that was stolen was a phone, they would get the fingerprints off it etc. and give you it back. They wold not hold onto it for over a year...fact.

i swear to god, the kid was also involved in tons of other identity theft cases across all of southern CT and i was told that incriminating evidence as well as over 200 pictures (i know thats weirdly alot) were found on my phone when they found it on him. so now my detective has told me that i can not get my device back until its used as evidence in court which will prob take over a year.

i think this is all BS and im not even sure if the police are right for holding it for that long, but theres nothing i can do. i cant afford a lawyer so whatever they say i have to accept.

im just gonna try to buy another iphone from att or craigslist i guess and sell the old one when i get it back from those ****ing pigs.

there was also no need to "check fingerprints" cuz the police found the phone in his pocket. after i had some sources of mine find this kid personally, an incident went down and the police showed up and he was arrested.

They're probably holding onto the phone because you got a third party involved and made their job harder.

my friends snatched my phone back from the theif after roughing him up a "little" bit, thats when the cops showed up. the police then took my phone were nice enough to let my friends go. they then had a motive to search the theifs car and later his house where they found a SHOPPING BAG full of stolen credit cards and evidence. after that the cops have had my phone ever since and would have never had reason to arrest/search this theif if i had not interviened since all they had was speculation and no strong evidence on who actually did it. my friends in no way hurt the investigation.

apple is seriously retarded if they think im gonna pay $300 ****ing dollars for a new iphone. they need some sort of insurance for theft. like i could understand if i HAD BROKE MY PHONE, but my phone was stolen from a locker with a ****ING lock on it!! it completly was beyond my control. i hope that company tanks once steve dies.
