I have a mid 2010 Mac Mini that I purchased refurbished from Apple. The box says FC270LL/A. When going through the prompts on a major retailers trade in site, it identifies my Mac Mini as MC270LL/A. Will my trade in be disqualified? How can one identify a new vs refurbished Mac Mini?

The best way to do this is:

1. Click "About This Mac" under the Apple Icon in the upper left hand corner of the screen.

2. Next, click on "System Report...".

From there, use the Model Identifier entry to find your exact Mac model, via a Google search. One of those links you'll get also allows you to find the exact model using the Serial Number (from the prior screen shot; you might one to save that).

OP, you have a 9-year-old mini, which was returned to Apple for whatever reason.
Apple, in turn, used a process to determine that it was good for resale, so sold to you as a refurb.

At this point, the refurb designation is meaningless, and it would identify by serial number for what model it is. "Refurb" is simply how you purchased it from Apple (they couldn't sell it to you labeled as "new")
I think I can safely say that the trade-in site isn't going to care about that.
