Hi, I am currently looking for a new notebook,
here are my two options:

http://store.apple.com/us/product/G0GR3LL/A?mco=MjE0NDk5Mw <-2.93 GHz

or

http://store.apple.com/us/product/FC026LL/A?mco=MjE0NDk5Mw <-2.66 GHz

Their main difference is the Processor Speed, So my question is, if that difference is going to be very big or not?

Thanks.

I just traded with a co-worker for a 2.8 uMBP from my 2.53 uMBP and don't see any difference in OS X, even my bootcamp vista experience rating stayed the same 5.4 for either one. Plus this new one runs hotter.

Don't think you'll see much of a difference.

Cheers,

I'm just curious about those two refurb 15inch mbp,

are both of them able to use 8gb?

on wikepedia it says they can't on OWC site, it says it can

No these MBP models can only have up to 4GB of RAM, these MBP's are the previous generation.

I would say get the 2.53 since it is not the new one w/o the dedicated gfx card; it's cheaper and runs cooler which are two benefit.s

see, that's exactly why I'm having confusions, having mixed messages, even on this thread. though I'm leaning towards to what Horus said. :)

Anyone bought this refurb and was able to use 8gb yet? :D

see here in wikepedia, there were were two instances of mbp 15's that was offered with 2.66ghz and 2.93ghz configuration.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MacBook_Pro

One supports 8gig, and one only 6gig, I hope its an error in their part

anyone have the model no. of either of this refurbs?

You'll only notice a difference in really high-end stuff; what do you use your machine for?

Well...
-Gaming
-Coding
-Light Video/Photo Editing
-Music Composition
-Office
-Internet, IM, and so.

Wikipedia is not the place to look for such information.

@cube

Thanks for the link, but wasn't that rumor later dismissed and stated as an error in apple's part. You do know that this is a rumor site right? And that not everything is to be taken as true.

Yes, the direct link is there. But when manually navigating through Apple's pages the 2.66Ghz memory option is omitted.

You do realize that your second link is for the 17-inch model?
If Apple were really offering 8GB for the 15-inch models, we'd be able to configure them directly (choose MBP than 8GB, like is the case for the 17-inch model) and not through just that link.
See the difference between this:
http://store.apple.com/us/configure/...mco=MzA3MTE3NA
and this:
http://store.apple.com/us/configure/...mco=NDE4NDI1Ng

Oops. Still, the 15" 2.93 page I meant to link to still lists the 8 GB kit.

http://store.apple.com/us/memorymodel/ME_15_2_93_MBP

These pages are not listed/available from the Memory Family page anymore, though, so yes, apparently it was an error.
