Here is the deal - my next machine needs to have a 160GB drive in it. I want to buy a refurb, but I see that usually the only systems listed are the standard configurations. I have heard stories of some people receiving upgraded hardware from the refurb store, but when they purchased they were anticipating the standard configuration.

Has anyone ever called them to see if they have different configurations available that may not be listed on the website?

Thanks and Happy Holidays! :)

I tried to do it once, and they won't customize a refurb order.

And, i doubt they'd tell you that info if they had one or not.

I am not sure, but I think when buying a refurb it is just hit or miss. I don't think you can call apple and see if you can get an upgraded refurb. I am one of the lucky ones seeing I got a free processor and video card upgrade in my refurb 20" iMac c2d. Good luck to you and hopefully you'll get a pleasant christmas surprise with your new refurb.

Cheers.
