I am trying to find out if the player on my macbook pro will play NON-region one dvds. I want to buy "Charlie Jade" on the UK's Amazon site but I want to be sure it will play.

Thanks

You can change the region to any region five times.

After that, you're stuck where you are.

Meaning you can watch it a maximum of three times, switching back to region 1 after each, but then you can watch it an infinite number of times and none of your region 1 disks.

Just buy it, NEVER change the region, and rip the movie with HandBrake.

Duff-Man says...there is a utility called DVD Info X that will tell what the status of your drive is, and if it has not yet been locked into a specific region you can use Region X to reset the change count back to zero....oh yeah!
