MacRumors has set up a iPhone 3G Launch Meetups forum to help readers organize meetups for the iPhone 3G launch.

The iPhone 3G will launch on July 11th, 2008 in 22 countries world-wide. If you are interested in meeting up or organizing with other readers, find the regional thread or create one yourself if none exists.

How will the lines compare to the original launch? How will the partying compare to the original launch?

I wonder how many lines I can be in at once. If people help me save my places in line, maybe I could run back and forth between all of the Apple stores in Southern California. After all, I wouldn't want to miss any of the fun.

Well here in Canada, the iPhone 3G is not being released at Apple Stores, instead, at thousands of Rogers and Fido phone dealers. Hard to co-ordinate such a meet up.

I think arn should make it clear to everyone that if they are waiting outside Apple stores they will be very disappointed, since the new iPhones will only be sold at AT&T stores. Remember, you're buying an AT&T contract that happens to come with an iPhone.

Can we get an interview with the Asian kid who threw up his fist as he triumphantly walked out of the store with his iPhone on opening day? You know who I'm talking about. I want to know what he's up to. :p

You mean the Apple's own web site is wrong about where they will be selling their own phones? If you go to the on-line Apple store and click on iPhone 3G, you see the following text under "Where to buy":

iPhone will be available in 8GB (black) and 16GB (black or white) models at Apple Retail Stores and AT&T Stores.

I spoke to a salesperson at the Apple store today because I wanted to know if they were getting phones in for preview before July 11 and she said that they weren't. That they would be getting them in the night before. If she can be believed, then they will be selling them at the Apple store. It also mentions them being sold at the Apple store and AT&T stores on Apple's website.

Has the intelligence level of the Internet fallen this low that we have to explain the point of a meetup of Macrumors members?

For the record, I'll pass - my Verizon contract's got a few more months and the first day of iPhone activations at the stores will likely suck big time.
