licencing

many Software makers alow for you to install their software on 2 personaly owned computers but the software is to be used only on one computer at a time. For example, Adobe Photo Shop and MS office both go out and look for other systems on your network that are running the same app with the same serial number. It wont open if that is found to be true. Now, I'm not sure if Adobe and MS are companies like the ones I was talking about but, they are, I would agree with their logic.

so what does this mean??

the license for Mac OS X that came with my iMac says "...You may make one copy of the Apple Software (excluding the Boot ROM code) in machine readable form for backup purposes only...."

does that mean I can't use something like Carbon Clone Copier to make a bootable copy on an external hard drive?

does it mean I can't install a copy of OS X on external drive if I already have it installed on an internal drive?

what is that phrase is intended to mean?
