Why spend that much money for last year's chip tech?
No one can spot a difference between chips from 2023, 2022 or even 2021. Unless you doing something crazy demanding with your phone. In normal use is how 99,9% users use the phone doesn’t matter if it’s A17, A16 or A15. Seriously. If you buy based on chip tech you paying for spec on the papar and knowladge that there is new chip inside. That’s it.

Lol i know right, every year during the launching suddenly everyone is an expert in metallurgists, engineering and such. Test the phone and play with it. As long as it felt improve during your testing and able to justify it, get it and move on . If not just return and refund its that simple

Anyone paying attention can use a 13 Pro, a 14 Pro and a 15 Pro and perceive operational differences.

Not to say that all 3 are not good useful tools; they all are. And some folks will like saving money with last year's tech. Personally IMO the price savings with the drop back to last year's chip tech is not enough to justify buying a 15+.

I do agree at some point. But with technology nowadays tech companies are just farming consumer in yearly basis like drip marketing and small incremental improvement. Its just the way it is. The user has to test with it and justify it . If aint cut it skip one year and see how it goes. Of cos there is people enjoy changing it on yearly basis there is no wrong in it as long as financially allows it or priorities allows it.

I literally was forced to by 15 Pro for myself and 15 Pro Max for my wife.. design is controversial - extremely good fit to my apple watch 7 titan and style overall

but my wife liked her flashy golden 13PM much more - I agree that steel iphones were much more bright and they just feel more expensive.. 15 Pros feel more ... pro :)

other than that even my very very very picky wife agrees that 15PM is significantly better than 13 ("significantly" literally means you can notice signs of the differences at every use case)

for me its even excessively fast, I had no issues with 13 Pro at all (incl. cameras, I much prefer my A7vR to anything mobile market can offer), but life happens and I upgraded with no regrets, surprisingly

PS. My previous upgrade from 12 Pro to 13 Pro (due to good offer for old phone) was much more questionable on personal perception ;)

PPS. I feel that with current iPhone level you can safely skip upgrades unless you're out of memory or just really need some feature.. performance-wise pros are safe for 4-5 generations, I feel

I’m just out. I’m going to have to sell my pro.
Gotcha, well it should sell for a pretty good amount since it’s so new. Meanwhile you can keep an eye out for the max specced the way you want.

So the pro just felt too small or more like lackluster?

edit-question

I purchased iPhone 15 Pro Max, and I have to say, coming from original SE, it’s been a frustrating experience. First and foremost, the battery life is bad. I find myself constantly searching for a charger by evening. This has made the phone incredibly inconvenient for daily use. Also phone heats up like crazy and 17.0.3 has not fixed the issue.
How is your SE doing regarding battery life? I have an old SE myself, it claims to have 90% battery health, but with its most current iOS it consumes power like crazy. E.g. just opening MacRumors in Safari will take 5%, and a few minutes of activity can cut battery life in half. It is near useless as a mobile device. I sometimes ponder replacing the battery (currently its second battery, original Apple), but I am not sure what I can hope for - maybe the battery is not the problem, and instead it is iOS that has become too busy for the little phone.

The big red flag for me is the loaner XR. Those only get provided if the phone is shipped to a repair center, that’s it.

Both. It just doesn’t feel as premium. I guess I just got used to the PM with the 14. It does feel normal after awhile.

Umm… perhaps you misunderstood, it’s my sister’s backup phone that she loaned me until I buy a new phone for myself.

Well I have to say I myself came from a iPhone SE 2 to the iPhone 14 6.1 model and I enjoy the size the plus and pro max versions are just to big for me I don’t put my phone in my pocket I use a belt clip instead to and it is not that heavy to go around with!

The phone is too big and heavy but theres very little extra content shown on the screen. So it’s like just streched regular screen.

The software updates have become a nightmare. It seems like every other day there’s a new update that disrupts everything… iOS 17.0.1… 0.2… 0.3… Not to mention, some of these updates have caused compatibility issues with third-party apps, making them crash or behave erratically.

The camera, while touted as a major selling point, has been a letdown. The pictures are often overprocessed, and in low light, they are downright terrible. It feels like the camera’s capabilities were oversold, and it’s not living up to the hype.

The phone is incredibly fragile, and even a minor scratchinh can lead to a ruined finish. And when it does scratch, the repair costs are astronomical. It’s almost like they want you to buy a new phone instead.

In summary, this iPhone has been nothing but a headache. The poor battery life, huge size and weight without more screen real estate, heat issues, constant updates, disappointing camera, and fragile design make it a frustrating and expensive device to own. I expected more from a flagship iPhone, but unfortunately, it falls short in many areas.
Have you considered writing a book?

If you buy every 2-3yrs, then you get more cash back at upgrade by buying the latest model. This is something to consider if you take your phone on a payment plan.

eg, here in Australia, you can take your phone over a 3yr, interest free plan. if you upgrade at the end of year 2 going into year 3, there will be approx $700 left to pay but you can get $900 on trade in, or more selling private (I got $1,250 trade in with a pre-order bonus for my 13 PM 256Gb). This means you can upgrade every 2 years and have cash in your pocket going into the changeover having never actually paid more than $1,200 for the $2,100 phone. (Australian pricing of course).

Indeed, because they come from a place of emotion and lots of people reply. The algorithm sees it as something to put on the front page. People who spread misinformation know exactly how to use human nature. It's not a conspiracy, everything is working as it should. The way to avoid this, as the saying goes, "don't feed the trolls".

But that goes against human nature 😂

I know settings make a big difference, i e notifications AOD eats battery but in addition my theory is also that there is a big difference between individual batches of batteries which impacts how long they last.My 13 pro max has never come close to the 12 pro max I had before i loaded IOS 14 on it which essentially killed the outstanding battery life i had, 2.5 days which I never came close to before I traded it in for a 13, got a great price on my trade in so was a no brainier.
Based on all the different reports I suspect individual battery capacity has an impact.

I agree. I prefer small phones but the pro seemed SO small.

Gotcha, I thought you implied you got a loaner from Apple. Since they only do loaner XRs when they ship a phone to a repair center I put that together incorrectly. I still have my problems with your post but I will stand corrected on this one.

I don’t regret it, since I couldn’t get one. But I did come to the realisation that what appealed the most to me from the PM15 was a chunk of titanium and an action button… So bought an Ultra 2 instead. Keeping my 14PM for a little longer.

What do people do with the phones that need to "constantly searching for a charger by evening". I use my 14 Pro Max non-stop (5 hours screen time) and I have 52% battery at 11pm.
