The new iPad is pretty sweet but two glaring features. No laminated display and only support for Apple pencil 1? Why would they do this. Apple pencil 1 needs lighting cable?

Also if the base model iPad 5th Gen air had base storage of 128gb it would be perfectly positioned in the middle. Now unless you get the higher storage model it sits slightly above the new iPad?

M2 and hover. iPP.

What is going on at Apple??

They're making a more affordable version for people who don't need laminated, pencils, or a ton of storage. Those who want that can move on to the higher end models. It's good to have a wide range of choices for different needs, desires, and budgets.

My point was thar for $450 they could have easily included a laminated screen.

Cheap Android budget tablets have has them for years. Literally no other tablet manufacturer at any price point uses non laminated screens but Apple. It also is not that Apple pencil is a big deal at the lower end but the original Apple pencil uses a lightning port to charge and they are selling a tablet that charges via USB c and a USB c charger with the tablet. On top of that you would charge the apple pencil through the lightning port of the regular iPad. What are people supposed to do to charge their Apple pencil. It doesn't make sense.

Storage on iPad Air should start at 128gb. It is a middle tier tablet.

You seem to want to defend things for no reason?

I like iPads but I was hoping for some changes that made sense.

Laminated display is considered a feature to Apple unfortunately, but thankfully not to other tablet makers.

Laminated display on iPad is needed and should be a default, for the glare and reflexion is bothersome.

I had to put a matted screen on my iPad because of the lack of a laminated screen which bugs me as a purist (don't even use a cover on my iPhone.
