A friend wanted me to help her wipe and reinstall her OS on her ex-husbands MBP, essentially making it a new (to her) MBP. I have the OS install disk, but I do not want to lose the other programs that came on the computer, such as Word, IMovie and such. Is there a way to do this and not wipe out everything?

I have not done a search, as this is somewhat time critical. I was hoping someone could give me the quick answer. Thank you in advance.

No, not really. If you wipe and do a clean install, you will need to reinstall the apps. Particularly the MS apps like Word which will make you reenter serial numbers etc.
