OK so I've been a bit daft. A friend donated a second genereation iMac G3 blue to the communiyty orchestra I play with. Before she gave it to us she wiped the hard drive and then gave me all the disks in a nice plastic bag.
But I was in the middle of moving and have lost them.
Pants.
So I borrowed disks from my sister who used to have an iMac and tried them.
I've tried the software restore CD (holding down the C key whilst it starts up) and the software install CD. But both have the same problem. A message saying address error, "turn off extensions by holding down the shift key when you restart" comes up.
Now if you restart do you hold down the shift key or the C key or both - which I've tried and doesn't work!
Any suggestions? Have I got the wrong disks? Should I be doing something else?
Thanks
nicole
