Impressive. Might look at compatibility list once tweaks start to get released and updated. Although I really think i'd struggle to find a reason to (just my personal situation). But I am starting to get pretty annoyed that I can't use Picture in Picture on my 8+

Be careful people...
"And yes, Code injection/tweaks/Cydia WILL be supported. But not only when I'm certain it's stable jailbreak, and not failbreak material.. (or if I'm beaten to it by the GitHub squad?)"

If you mess it up you may endup loosing 11.1.2...

I’m actually quite torn about this JB.

For the first time ever I upgraded my IPhone before a JB was released. I gave up a 6s perfectly stable on 9.3.3 for an iPhone 8. I missed the iOS 10 JB window because I didn’t have a PC at the time.

Now I’ve been a few months on stock iOS. And have finally gotten used to it.

But I know the instant I jailbreak I’ll wonder how I ever lived without it.

So do I really want to get back on the jailbreak rinse at repeat of not updating, waiting for the latest JB etc etc etc. Or do I just stay on stock and update to iOS 11.2.1?

I’m genuinely torn.

If you have a jailbreakable device and think you’ll enjoy it; definitely do it?

It always makes my phones I already own feel like brand new beasts

Don’t worry about having to deal with stock withdrawal down the road. Live in the NOW.

Dangit! I just upgraded to iOS 11 yesterday and it's 11.2.1! Curses.

Now that Toucharcade published the story, the iOS 11 jailbreak will definitely get more coverage by the rest of Apple news sites following suit.

From what I've also read, 11.2.x has already been jailbroken as well, at least by some of the groups in China.

https://9to5mac.com/2017/12/15/iphone-x-jailbreak-ios-11-2-1/

They claim they are not going to release it, but if another group finds out what they did and reproduces it, there is the chance that 11.2.x may get a jailbreak released.

BL.

I’d say very slim. Especially a jb for one version later than 11.1.2

Jb are sparse so they’d wait it out. Unless it was for sure parched by Apple in subsequent updates and they felt generous.

Why would you do that? To get one on a lower software? Lol

YES! Two years I’ve been waiting for a jailbreak and I keep missing it.

I hope that comes to fruition, from what Saurik is saying about this it sounds like it might be awhile before Cydia is ready.

I am so antsy to jailbreak. I know it is a lot of work for him to get Cydia working but IDK how long I can realistically hold out. 11.1.2 is so buggy I want to update so bad but I only have one device and my luck the day I finally update then cydia will be ready. I hope it is stable and secure enough too that other apps aren't affected. There were a lot last time that wouldn't work with a jailbroken system.

Yeah I’m having a similar problem I was on 11.1.2 then Apple made me update to 11.2.1 cause I was having issues. Now I have a new iPhone X shipping to me. And it most likely will be on something below 11.2 but my problem is my backup is gonna be on a higher version and I don’t want to lose all my stuff. Do you know how I can get all my stuff to my new x without updating it?

Rule of thumb, I always like to stay on the original, or the .1 release of any iOS. I have always found success with getting a JB that way.

Anyways, exciting times indeed. I am just going to wait until Saurik does the necessary changes to Cydia before JBing. I do not see the benefit at the moment. There is also talk about releasing Installer, but I think Cydia is the way to go as it has always been reliable and stable.

Saurik is doing the right thing by taking his time with Cydia. The last thing he needs is tons of angry internet people finding bugs within Cydia. It will come out when it comes out I guess, no sense in pushing it.

Does anyone think there will be a release soon after for 11.2?
I've read a little bit that has leaked out about how they achieved that particular break. If released.. and again assuming what I was given is legit.. it would release into the wild a larger bug. Which is probably why they'll hold on to it or give it to Apple... assuming they haven't closed that gap with the latest beta... I assume they have. Which is part of the reason why they did a bigger jump in end digits in the latest betas.

Considering jailbreaking isn't as mainstream as it once was, I doubt we'll see to many more releases. Only reason the latest break is out is due to public knowledge after the fact. Therefore Apple closes 1 door and opens another before to many can get in on the action. They are much faster to react now, then they were years ago.

Yeah I wonder why people don’t like jailbreaking as much anymore.

Some have gotten older, some have given up waiting for a jailbreak, some moved to android, plus with the side loading to get a JB, people are scared to try something that used to be "slide to jailbreak" most of my friends are geeky like me but they are just happy with the iPhone the way it is. I wonder when Apple Watch jailbreak will happen, that could change the Apple Watch significantly.
