I can't be the only one here having iTunes/iOS5 syncing problems can I? I upgraded late one evening, 2 days after the release date, and I have not been able to use my 3GS as a phone and Ipod in one device. The last time I was ever this frustrated using a mac product was back in 2001 while trying to sync my click wheel iPod on 3rd party windows software. It is the same effect here--I sync, not knowing what is going to screw up next. I don't even sync photos to my iphone--just music and apps. The iTunes Library looks perfectly fine, but will not mimic the settings to the iPhone at all, whatsoever, yet my 1st Gen iPad works perfectly fine. Every time I sync it, different problems with the music library occur, so much so, that there is no way to narrow down the problem. I have completely reinstalled Itunes and re-imported playlists, etc. to no avail. Then the music that IS synced on the iPhone does not play correctly (artwork doesn't change from song-to-song which causes sluggish behavior, etc.) In googling this, there are a lot of known, obvious problems with syncing, so I'm confused as to why there hasn't been an article about it on here, or an announcement of a fix. I'm back to using my 1st gen iphone as an ipod since it syncs perfectly fine on the old iOS, and carrying my 3GS as a phone, which is extremely frustrating. Worst upgrade ever.

I wouldn't say worst upgrade ever (though if I was having your problems I probably would).

I'm having difficulties with my photos syncing. I've got 1500 photos that should be syncing, but only about 1300 are. And iTunes is inconsistent with telling me how much space they will be taking up on my device. I think my problem is more iTunes 10.5 related than iOS 5 related.

Try turning off "Sync Music" in iTunes, sync it so that it removes your music from the phone, then turn Sync Music back on, and sync again. This fixed a similar problem I had when I upgraded to an earlier release.

Before you do you might try restarting your iPhone.

    Good luck!

I tried this as well...using this method under the photo tab seems to have helped most folks with their syncing problems, but for music, it actually adds duplicate playlists, and many of the songs are duplicated as well. Also--even though I've added a few new songs to the Itunes library, they won't sync over to the phone. And to add insult to injury, I had purchased a few text tones on the phone on day 2 before I noticed the music section of the phone was completely whacked. I got an invoice for triple charges of the same text tones...all on one invoice. AND they mysteriously disappeared from the phone & my library. Thanks :apple: Mind you, this is a new 3GS from May. If there is no fix for this by November, onto the Droid. I'm not carrying multiple Apple devices just to be able to listen to my new music.
